En 2007, le 20 juin fut ratifié la convention pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine immatériel. Pour expliquer dans les grandes lignes, c’est une convention qui a pour but de protéger, enregistrer et préserver tout le patrimoine culturel immatériel, intangible transmis de génération en génération.
Le patrimoine culturel immatériel est l’ensemble des pratiques, expressions, connaissances, représentations et savoir-faire que les groupes ou communautés reconnaissent comme faisant part entière de leur patrimoine culturel.
La musique dans le patrimoine culturel
En 2017, l’UNESCO a déterminé que, dans les dossiers soumis pour un enregistrement sur les listes du patrimoine culturel Immatériel, environs un sur trois comportaient des liens vers la culture musicale. Cela en dit long sur la place de la musique dans le patrimoine culturel immatériel. Que ce soit pour des mariages, des décès, des naissances, des cérémonies ou rites culturels, la musique est présente dans nos vies.
